Charred timber must be installed as part of a correctly detailed, drained and ventilated façade system. The appropriate batten arrangement depends on the cladding orientation, profile, board dimensions and project specification. Use suitable stainless-steel fixings and follow the project-specific installation requirements.

Provide a continuous ventilated cavity behind the cladding and protect the ventilation openings with insect mesh. Keep the bottom edge of the timber cladding at least 200 mm above finished ground level or any adjacent horizontal surface.

No. The raw char finish is deep black, but once brushed or oiled, it reveals natural grain textures and tones—ranging from soft greys to warm browns—depending on the wood and treatment.

Only raw char may leave residue. Brushed or oiled versions are smooth and clean to the touch, perfect for high-contact areas.

Wood is charred under controlled conditions. It can be left raw, brushed to remove soot and reveal texture, and optionally oiled to enrich colour and add protection.

Yes. We offer a premium sample box with several finishes so you can evaluate the texture, colour, and craftsmanship before placing a full order.

For general cladding applications, we recommend a half-lap or shadow-gap profile. Full tongue-and-groove profiles can be manufactured on request. PAR boards are also available; the required substructure and membrane depend on the selected profile and project design.

We do not provide installation services. However, we support clients with technical advice and product-specific mounting guidance.

Yes. Our charred wood is suitable for decking and fencing. Brushed and oiled finishes are recommended for decking due to smoother surfaces and enhanced protection.
